MATCH PREVIEW - CIVIL SERVICE STROLLERS (H)

Posted March 4, 2025

For the first of two home games this week, we welcome Civil Service Strollers for our Park’s Motor Group Lowland League game with a 7.45pm kick off.

Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Berwick see’s us remain in 13th place while the Strollers sit in tenth place although just a point ahead.

This is their second trip to the area in four days having lost 2-1 to Hill of Beath Hawthorn in the Quarter Final of the South Challenge Cup.

THE OPPOSITION

Strollers have won nine of their 25 league games this season against Cowden (2-1), Cumbernauld Colts (4-3 & 4-1), Gala Fairydean Rovers (4-2), Broxburn Athletic (2-1), Gretna 2008 (3-1), Berwick Rangers (4-1), Hearts B (2-0) and Tranent (2-1).

There have been five draws against Celtic B (1-1), Broomhill (1-1), Gala Fairydean Rovers (2-2), East Stirlingshire (1-1) and Linlithgow Rose (1-1). Their 11 defeats have come against East Kilbride (1-7), Berwick Rangers (1-2), Caledonian Braves (0-3), Bo’ness United (2-3), Tranent (1-3), Linlithgow Rose (0-1), Albion Rovers (1-2), University of Stirling (1-2), Hearts B (2-5) and Celtic B (1-4).

In the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup they beat Cumbernauld Colts 3-0 at Broadwood before losing by a similar score to Irvine Meadow at Meadow Park.

The South Challenge Cup saw wins over Newburgh 3-2 at Shore Park, Dalry Thistle 3-0 at Merksworth Park and home wins over Irvine Meadow 3-1 and Shotts Bon Accord 3-0 before Saturday’s loss to the Haws.

In the Lowland League Cup they had a home 2-0 win over East Stirlingshire before losing 3-1 to Bo’ness United at Newtown Park,

PREVIOUS PARK’S MOTOR GROUP LOWLAND LEAGUE MEETINGS

At the sixth attempt we are looking to beat the Strollers for the first time in the Park’s Motor Group Lowland League, although as seen by our chart all of the previous five games have been tight affairs.

The first meeting at Christie Gillies Park in November 2022 saw Leyton Bisland give us a half time lead which was cancelled out by Alieu Faye and Lewis Duffy. The April return game also saw a 2-1 defeat with Robbie Cole and Harry Girdwood putting Strollers two up before MacKenzie Williamson pulled a goal back.

Last season saw two draws with the first in August 2023 saw us lead twice. Jamie Docherty gave us the lead from the penalty spot before Mark McConnell levelled. Zac Butterworth restored our lead by one time trialist Kris Amponsah grabbed a last minute goal. The return game in January once again saw Harry Girdwood on target with Josh Jack getting our equaliser.

Our game at Christie Gillies Park in August saw another 2-1 loss with Alieu Faye and Josh Laing putting the Strollers two up before Matty McDonald reduced the deficit.
