MATCH PREVIEW - GALA FAIRYDEAN ROVERS (H)

We return to action as we open February after a stop start month of January. Gala Fairydean Rovers are the visitors in the opening round of the Park’s Motor Group Lowland League Cup with a 3pm kick off.

Rhys Walker is eligible to play this afternoon as his suspension will be completed in next week’s league game with Cumbernauld Colts.


THE OPPOSITION

Gala sit in 16th place in the table with 18 points from their 24 games. Although scoring goals isn’t a problem with 43, seventh best in the league, conceding them has with 65 being the worst in the Lowland League.

Their four league wins have come against Bo’ness United (3-1), University of Stirling (5-0), Cumbernauld Colts (6-0) and Berwick Rangers (2-1). Six draws have come against Celtic B (2-2), East Kilbride (4-4), Albion Rovers (3-3), Cumbernauld Colts (4-4), Linlithgow Rose (1-1) and Civil Service Strollers (2-2). There have been 14 defeats against Caledonian Braves (0-6 &1-2), Hearts B (1-5), Cowden (1-4), Broxburn Athletic (0-3), Tranent (0-7 & 1-2), Civil Service Strollers (2-4), East Stirlingshire (0-2), Linlithgow Rose (2-3), Broomhill (2-3), Celtic B (0-2), Gretna 2008 (0-2) and Berwick Rangers (1-2).

In the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup they beat Strathsprey Thistle 8-2 at Netherdale before bowing out 5-2 to Pollok at Newlandsfield.

In the South Challenge Cup they had a home 4-2 win over Camelon Juniors before bowing out 1-0 to Irvine Meadow, also at Netherdale.


PARK'S MOTOR GROUP LOWLAND LEAGUE CUP

This season’s competition kicked off last night when holders Tranent beat Broxburn Athletic at Foresters Park.

Other games today are Albion Rovers v Bo’ness United and Linlithgow Rose v Caledonian Braves.

On Tuesday it's Broomhill v Berwick Rangers, Civil Service Strollers v East Stirlingshire and Cumbernauld Colts v East Kilbride.

The First Round is completed on Wednesday when Gretna 2008 host University of Stirling.
