After last week’s Park’s Motor Group Lowland League fixtures were all but wiped out due to the weather we return back to action as we welcome University of Stirling with a 3pm kick off.
Our game with the students was also a victim of frost early last month and we go into the game knowing that a win would see us leapfrog them in the table.
Rhys Walker starts a two game suspension after his sending off against East Stirlingshire while Daryl Healy serves the last game of his ban.
THE OPPOSITION
The Uni have won six game so far against Bo’ness United (3-2), Berwick Rangers (7-0), Broxburn Athletic (2-1), Cumbernauld Colts (1-0) Civil Service Strollers (2-1) and Broomhill (3-2).
Their other five draws have come against Hearts B (2-2), East Stirlingshire (2-2), Caledonian Braves (1-1), Broxburn Athletic (2-2) and Bo’ness United (2-2). They have also lost nine times to Gretna 2008 (0-1), East Kilbride (0-7), Caledonian Braves (2-3), Tranent (0-5 & 0-3), Linlithgow Rose (1-3), Albion Rovers (0-5), Gala Fairydean Rovers (0-5) and Celtic B (0-7).
In the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup they lost 0-2 at home to Caledonian Braves while in the South Challenge Cup they lost 5-3 to Glasgow United at Greenfield Park.
PREVIOUS PARK’S MOTOR GROUP LOWLAND LEAGUE MEETINGS
The first meeting of the sides saw us lose 1-0 at Forthbank in September 2022 with Ben MacIver-Redwood getting the only goal of the night. The return game the following January then saw a 2-0 win with goals from Scott Sinclair and Jack Garrad.
In February we went down 2-1 at Forthbank with James Stokes hitting a brace after Zac Butterworth had opened the scoring. The return game the following month saw a 2-2 draw Jack Docherty opening the scoring for Stirling just before the break and Matty Docherty levelling just after the break only for Docherty to restore their lead minutes later. Daryl Healy then got our equaliser.
The previous meeting of the sides this season in August saw a 1-1 draw at Forthbank where Rhys Walker scored on his debut with Finn Moffett equalising for the hosts.
