We start a run of three away games as we head south to face Gretna 2008 at Raydale Park with a 3pm kick off in the Park’s Motor Group Lowland League.
Although they have lost twice to East Kilbride this week the Anvils are the most improved side in this season’s Lowland League and are just a point off last season’s tally of 12 and sit just a point ahead of us having played a game more.
THE OPPOSITION
As mentioned, under the charge of Vince Parker (who was in goal when the sides met at Central Park in April), the Anvils have been enjoying better fortunes this season with three wins and two draws in their games so far.
Their wins have come in away matches which saw 1-0 victories at University of Stirling and Cumbernauld Colts while Hearts B went down 6-1 at Raydale Park.
They also had a creditable 0-0 with league leaders Caledonian Braves at Alliance Park and a 2-2 draw at home to Tranent.
Defeats have come from Albion Rovers (0-3), Linlithgow Rose (1-3), Celtic B (0-1), Broxburn Athletic (0-2) and East Kilbride (0-5) all at Raydale Park.
They also bowed out of the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup last Saturday losing 2-0 to East Kilbride at K Park.
In the CarMatKings South Challenge Cup they had a 4-1 home win over Newton Stewart at Raydale Park and they meet Lesmahagow next Saturday.
