MATCH PREVIEW – RUTHERGLEN GLENCAIRN

September has been very much a cup month with games in the SPFL Trust Trophy and the South Challenge Cup and we now complete the month with a visit from Rutherglen Glencairn in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup First Round.

In last season’s cup we beat Kilwinning Rangers 1-0 before bowing out to then Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle.


THE OPPOSITION

The Glens have had a good season so far with only one defeat when the lost to Shotts Bon Accord 2-1 after extra time in the South Challenge Cup.

In the West of Scotland League, they sit in second place in the First Division two points behind leaders Arthurlie who have played a game more.

Wins have come against Kilbirnie Ladeside (4-2), Kilwinning Rangers (4-0), Arthurlie (3-2), Petershill (6-3) and Thorniewood United (1-0). They have also drawn with Cumbernauld United (2-2) and Maybole Juniors (2-2).

Last Saturday they beat Irvine Victoria 3-0 at Victoria Park in the Second Round of the Scottish Junior Cup.
