Back Home For Jim

Posted June 10, 2024

Manager Dougie Hill has not just been focused on player recruitment as he was keen to also build his coaching team in advance of pre-season training commencing. He has now agreed a deal that sees Jim Moffat return to Central Park as Goalkeeping Coach.

Jim, of course, needs absolutely no introduction as he rejoins his hometown club. Jim was just 16 when he left Beath High School to sign for Manchester City. His 23-year career between the sticks later took off in Scotland as he made over 300 league appearances for Montrose, Forfar, East Fife, Hamilton, Dunfermline, East Stirling and Albion Rovers as well as enjoying two spells with Cowden.

Jim then moved into management and took East Fife to promotion in 2003 in their Centenary season. Later, he had a spell as manager of Forfar and was assistant manager at Montrose. In 2017/18, Jim was Goalkeeping Coach at Central Park when Billy Brown was in charge. In the last couple of years, he has been the Goalkeeping Coach at Cupar Hearts – winners of the Scottish Amateur Cup. Off the pitch, Jim was principal PE teacher at Bell Baxter High in Cupar for many years and then at St Columba’s High in Dunfermline.

Dougie was delighted to secure Jim’s services for Cowden once more saying, "Jim’s overall experience and coaching expertise will be invaluable – plus it’s great that he is a Cowdenbeath lad born and bred."
