MATCH PREVIEW - BERWICK RANGERS (H)

Posted March 16, 2024

We kick off the first of two home games against former SPFL opponents as we welcome Berwick to Central Park with a 3pm kick off.

Back in September we ran out 2-0 winners when the sides met at Shielfield Park with Ciaran Chalmers and Jamie Docherty scoring in each half.

Former Central Parkers in the Borderers squad are Liam Buchanan who returned in January from a loan spell at League Two side Bonnyrigg Rose, Cammy Graham and Kane O’Connor although the latter has been sidelined after being injured in the pre-season. Since the sides last met Graham Taylor has moved onto Camelon.

Daryl Healy is the only former Borderer in our squad.

LAST TIME OUT

Daryl Healy continued his good scoring run last Saturday getting our second goal in a 2-0 win over Edinburgh University with Robbie McNab opening the scoring.

THE OPPOSITION

Now in charge of Berwick Rangers after the departure of Stuart Malcolm, who left Shielfied after taking charge in 100 games to take up a coaching role at Arbroath before moving to East Fife, is former assistant Thomas Scobbie.

The Borderers currently sit in 12th place in the league, a place and four points below us, with 10 wins, 6 draws and 13 defeats from their 29 games.

The wins came against East Stirlingshire (2-1),Celtic B (2-1), Edinburgh University (3-1 & 2-0), Gretna 2008 (1-0 & 3-0), Tranent (1-0), Civil Service Strollers (1-0), Broomhill (4-0) and University of Stirling (2-0).

The draws where against Cumbernauld Colts (0-0), University of Stirling (2-2), Hearts B (2-2), Linlithgow Rose (1-1), Tranent (2-2) and Gala Fairydean Rovers (3-3).

Their other 12 defeats came against Caledonian Braves (0-1), Bo’ness United (1-2 & 1-5), East Kilbride (0-1), Hearts B (0-6), Albion Rovers (0-1), Broomhill (0-2), Civil Service Strollers (0-1), Cumbernauld Colts (1-2), Gala Fairydean Rovers (0-2), East Stirlingshire (1-2) and Celtic B (1-2).
