MATCH PREVIEW - ST MIRREN (H)

Posted July 25, 2023

After a trilogy of games with Angus sides, we close our Viaplay Group H games tonight when Premiership side St Mirren visit Central Park with a 7.45pm kick off.

It has been a useful experience for our new team as they prepare for the Lowland League campaign ahead which starts on Saturday against Celtic B.

LAST TIME OUT

Saturday saw another 1-1 draw with higher league opposition in the shape of League 1 Montrose, with Jamie Docherty scoring for the second successive game.

However, we once again lost out on a bonus point going down 5-4 in the shoot-out as we did against Arbroath last week.

Jack Duncan returns to the squad after being suspended following his red card at Gayfield Park last Wednesday but Aiden McLaughlin sits out another game as he received a two game ban for his straight red in the same game.

THE OPPOSITION

Stephen Robinson’s side lost 1-0 in their opening group game at Links Park but bounced back on Saturday with a 4-0 home win against Arbroath. Mikael Mandon, Mark O’Hara and a brace from Stav Nachmani with a brace giving them a comfortable win.

Saints now sit in third place in the group with their final game being at home to leaders Forfar on Saturday.
