Farewell To A Fan - Andy Forbes

It is with great regret that we can now report that one of our long standing and loyal fans, Andy Forbes, who has followed Cowdenbeath FC for 80 plus years, passed away peacefully in Dunfermline Queen Margaret Hospital after a period of ill-health. Until his health deteriorated in recent years, Andy remained a season ticket holder and loved to recall the many great teams, Managers and players who wore the blue of Cowdenbeath FC.

His highlights included - the League Cup win over Rangers at Ibrox in 1949 plus promotion to the “old” Division One under Manager Andy Matthew which saw teams such as Hearts, Hibs, and the Old Firm visit Central Park and local derby wins over our neighbours “the Pars”.

Proud was an understatement when Andy saw his oldest son become the Goalkeeping Coach at Central Park and his grandson Mark sign for Cowdenbeath FC U20’s in 2008/09. Despite being housebound for the last few years of his life. Andy’s love for the Blue Brazil never waned - the first and only football result Andy looked for on match day was that of Cowdenbeath FC.

Andy will say a final farewell to Central Park this morning as his funeral cortege will go round the track before proceeding onwards. Our thoughts and condolences are with the family.
