Cowdenbeath FC today concluded a bargain with East Kilbride FC for the transfer of their experienced midfield man Andy Black.
Andy (27) began his career Dundee. He also had a spell with Stirling Albion before helping Edinburgh City reach the play offs for promotion in 2021. A defensive midfielder, Andy was then a member of the Kelty Hearts side which won the SPFL League 2 title last season. He moved on to join East Kilbride in the summer.
Cowden’s football operations coordinator Colin Nelson said, "I'm delighted Andy has joined us. He's a player who the manager and Colin Jack identified and we got to work to try and make the deal happen. I would really like to mention too the support of the board and a couple of fans who made this deal possible. It's a significant signing for the club as Andy has been successful at every club he has been at particularly our neighbours Kelty where he contributed to their title win. I believe Andy will be a vital player for the remainder of this season as well as season 23/24."
Assistant Manager Colin Jack added, "Really pleased Andrew has decided to join us. Andrew is an experienced player who will add great value to our team. He is a leader and a great character to have around the club."
Andy himself was eager to share his thoughts, "Delighted to finally get the move done. When the interest in me started I was keen to get on board. Having played against Cowden a lot of times I know the standards of the club and hopefully I can help to get it moving in the direction it should be. Having worked with Colin Jack before I also know the sort of football he and the manager want to play, which suits me as a player."
