Match Preview: Arbroath v Cowdenbeath

Posted April 16, 2010

The Blue Brazil play Arbroath at Gayfield on Saturday afternoon and a win would clinch a play-off place on and keep up the pressure on league leaders Alloa Athletic.

It is going to be a very difficult 90 minutes though as Arbroath are battling to avoid the relegation play-off spot and are now within 3 points of Stenhousemuir after picking up a point away to Stirling Albion on Monday night.

Cowden dominated possession against Peterhead last weekend but know that they will have to take their chances against Arbroath if they are going to secure the three points that will guarantee a top four place and one of the highest finishes in the history of the football club. The three points will also keep the title dream alive and kicking

"Our first goal is to go out and try to secure a play-off place and see where that takes us but it will be another big test at Gayfield as Arbroath are fighting for survival"' said Danny Lennon.

"I am sure I will get a positive reaction from the players after the disappointing result last week. We had plenty of possession but failed to convert and that is something we will need to put right. However, we will also need to keep our concentration at the back and give ourselves a platform to work from.

"We are not looking to far ahead of ourselves but we will be giving it a big push in the final five games."

Scott Linton and Dene Droudge miss out again but Mark Ramsay featured for the reserves on Tuesday night and comes back into contention. Droudge is likely to be ruled out for the rest of the season while Linton is struggling with an ankle injury.
