MATCH PREVIEW - BO'NESS UNITED (H)

Posted September 17, 2022

It's Scottish Cup weekend and this afternoon we welcome Bo’ness United for their first ever visit to Central Park with a 3pm kick off.

The sides have met on one previous occasion on 19 November 2011 when we ran out 3-0 winners at Newtown Park. Goals from Jon Robertson, Scott Linton and Lewis Coult from the penalty spot saw us fight off the challenge of the BU’s who ended the match with nine men after Ryan Scanlon and Stuart Hunter were sent off.

Back then Bo’ness were still a junior side and in the East Region Super League, which they had won to qualify for the Scottish Cup, while we had been relegated from the First Division of the SFL and bouncing back and we would eventually win the Second Division title.

Now of course with the implementation of the Pyramid we new find ourselves both in the Lowland League.

Max Christie’s side got their league campaign off to a blistering start winning four of their opening five games and drawing the other. Cumbernauld Colts (3-0), Edinburgh United (5-0), Caledonian Braves (2-0) and Hearts B (4-1) were brushed aside while they drew 2-2 with University of Stirling. The also beat EOS Premier side Vale of Leithen 2-0 in the EOS Qualifying Cup First Round, their only cup game so far this season.

However, since then their season has flipped and they have lost their last four games against East Kilbride (0-1), Tranent Juniors (0-2), The Spartans (0-2) and OG Broomhill (2-3).

New signing Carlos Lyon goes straight into the squad for this afternoon’s game.
