MATCH PREVIEW - CELTIC B (A)

Posted July 23, 2022

We make our Lowland League debut this afternoon as we face Celtic B at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie with a 3pm kick off.

It will be a strong test for our side against the Celtic youngsters who finished in third place in the league last season, losing out to Rangers B on goal difference for the runner up spot.

Our most recent game with the young Celts came in the Challenge Cup in 2016 when we lost 2-1. Nikolay Toderov, now starting for our neighbours Dunfermline, gave us the lead with 30 minutes gone but the young hoops struck back in the second half with goals from Jack Aitchison, who spent last season with Forest Green Rovers, and PJ Crossan who faced us in the colours of Forfar Athletic last season. Soon after the visitors had taken the lead we played out the final 15 minutes with ten men after Chris Turner was sent off.

The most notable player in the Celtic side that night was Kris Ajer who is of course now playing with Brentford in the EPL after a successful spell in the Celtic first team, while Anthony Ralsoton is now a first team regular.

For this afternoon’s match both Daniel Martins and Scott Sinclair miss out after picking up injuries against St Mirren last Saturday.
