MATCH PREVIEW - FC EDINBURGH (A)

Posted July 20, 2022

We conclude our Premier Sports Cup Group E fixtures on Wednesday night when we head to the capital to face the rebranded FC Edinburgh (formerly Edinburgh City) with a 7.45pm kick off at Meadowbank.

As well as a new name, FC Edinburgh returned to their old Meadowbank ground on Saturday afternoon when they went down 3-1 to Arbroath. Callum Crane had the honour of scoring the first goal at the revamped ground but goals from Nicky Lowe and Bobby Linn (2) maintained the Red Lichties 100% record in the group.

In their other game FCE they drew with Airdrieonian at the Penny Cars Stadium with John Robertson opening the scoring while and Jonathan Devenny quickly equalising while Gabby McGill had a chance to win the game for the Diamonds but missed from the penalty spot. In the penalty shoot out FCE won the bonus point after a 4-2 win.

The match will see a return to the squad for Aiden Gilmartin and Ewan Thomson who missed out on Saturday as they couldn’t play against their parent club. However, both Daniel Martins and Scott Sinclair are side lined with a hamstring injury and broken toe respectively.
