Cowden Reserves 2 Dunfermline Reserves 3

Posted April 12, 2010

A very young reserve side featuring a number of players from the under 16s put up a good showing against Reserve League Cup leaders Dunfermline in our final game of the campaign.

In an even opening period the visitors opened the scoring after 36 minutes when Steven Leslie took advantage of a defensive lapse to round Bower and slot the ball home.

We however pulled a goal back two minutes from the break when keeper Gunn saved a Dempster shot and John Ferguson was on hand to slot home the rebound.

Leslie once again gave the Pars the lead seven minutes into the second half with a close range header but Cowden battled back once more to equalise after 69 minutes when Derek Wallace headed home from a Stein cross.

Just as the honours looked to be shared Joe Cardle latched onto a long ball and slotted the ball home to extend the Pars lead at the top of the group.

The result ends a mixed campaign for the Blue Brazil with nine points from ten fixtures.
