MATCH PREVIEW - EAST FIFE (A)

Posted July 2, 2022

Our second pre season friendly sees us make a trip to the coast to face East Fife at Locality Hub Bayview Stadium with a 2pm kick off.

In what was a horrendous season for Fife football last season like ourselves the Fifers found themselves relegated and kick off the current campaign in cinch League Two.

The Methil side, under the charge of former Cowden player Stevie Crawford for a second spell, have played three games already. A week past Tuesday they drew 1-1 at home with Civil Service Strollers with the Edinburgh side equalising in the last minute. A trialist had given the Fifers a half time lead with Ross Young scoring from the penalty spot in the last minute for Strollers.

Last Saturday they took an early lead through a well struck free kick from Scott Mercer against Spartans at Ainslie Park before losing two late goals from Chris Inglis and Cammy Russell to go down 2-1.

On Tuesday night they once again surrendered a lead in a 1-1 home draw against Hill of Beath Hawthorn. A trialist had given them a half time lead with Ross Allum equalising in the second half.

Last Friday we of course drew 0-0 with Hillfield Swifts at Central Park with 12 trialists featuring in the squad against Pat Scullion’s side.

With fifteen players signed for the campaign, Maurice Ross will be looking at players on trial once more as he continues his rebuilding of the squad.

In the East Fife squad, former Cowden keeper Allan Fleming has returned from Montrose while Sam Denham who was released by St Johnstone will feature against us after spending the second half of last season on loan at Central Park.
