Last night at Lumphinnans we really started out in earnest with our first 2022/23 pre-season training session. Manager Maurice Ross also found time to conclude another deal to bring a new player to Central Park. Accepting terms yesterday evening was centre back Alfie Robinson.
19 year old Alfie is a product of the Jimmy Johnstone Academy. He initially went senior with Queen's Park and since January 2021 has been with Albion Rovers. It was great therefore to welcome Alfie to the club last night and thanks too go to our friends at Albion Rovers for their cooperation as regards Alfie.
Alfie was also very happy to share his initial thoughts on becoming a Blue Brazilian - "I'm very excited to be joining such a young hungry squad at Cowdenbeath. The gaffer and all the staff are brilliant, just from a few phone calls and one session I can see that. I think for myself and the other boys it's a great opportunity to learn, develop but also fight for the league which I fully believe we can if we take the gaffer's instructions on to the pitch. Being at Albion for the last season and a half I've never really had the opportunity to fight for a title and I think with the lads we've got here we would relish that. For me personally this is the perfect situation to develop because there's a lot of competition so you can't switch off for a second. That's what you need to learn as a young player. Football's ruthless and you need to be on it from minute one to the last game. I couldn't be more buzzing for the season."
