Match Preview: Peterhead v Cowdenbeath

Posted April 8, 2010

Last Saturday's vital 1-0 home win over Stenhousemuir kept the Blue Brazil in the promotion mix and next up is a a difficult away fixture against Neale Cooper's Peterhead this weekend.

Cowden have come out on top in three of the four meetings this season but Peterhead gained some revenge with a 3-1 win at Central Park in February. Danny Lennon's team will be looking to put up a much improved showing this time around and go into the game on the back of a fantastic spell that saw Lennon pick up the Irn-Bru Second Division manager of the month for March - his third award this season.

"I was pleased with the performance last weekend and delighted to pick up all three points", said Danny Lennon.

"We controlled the game for long spells but we knew that Stenhousemuir would be difficult to break down and that we would have to be patient. The boys stuck to their task and were rewarded with the second half winner.

"Next up for us is Peterhead and we are under no illusions about how difficult a game this will be. They came out on top in our last meeting but I felt that we were the authors of our own downfall with the loss of some soft goals.

"I am confident we ca pick up a result if we stick to our game plan but they have some very experienced players in their ranks and have aspirations of claiming a play off spot so we will have to be at out best once again.

"There are six games to go and it's our intention to take it one game at a time and keep the pressure on Alloa".

Mark Baxter returns to the squad after recovering from his hamstring complaint but Dene Droudge and Scott Linton will not travel due to injury.
