MATCH PREVIEW - ELGIN CITY (H)

Posted February 19, 2022

After being side lined for the last fortnight after the postponements of our games with Stirling and Forfar, we get back into action this afternoon against Elgin with a 3pm kick off.

It’s a vital game for both sides who are in the bottom two positions in Cinch League Two, with us being nine points behind the Moray side who have played three games more.

Each side has won their home game in the previous encounters this season, a trend we hope to continue this afternoon. Back in August we ran out 3-1 winners at Central Park with Liam Buchanan scoring two penalties in the opening 25 minutes. Darryl McHardy pulled a goal back before the break but Luke Mahady sealed the points with his only goal for us seven minutes from time.

The return game at Borough Briggs then saw the sides separated by an Archie MacPhee goal eight minutes into the second half. Before that match City had been on a six game winless run and following it they went on another four game winless run.

Things picked up at the Christmas and New year period with wins over Stirling and Forfar which heralded a run of five games undefeated which included a midweek home win over league leaders Kelty. The impressive spell saw manager Gavin Price pick up the Manager of the Month award but since then they have suffered four straight defeats at Stenhousemuir and Kelty and at home to Stranraer and Annan.
