A second half Gareth Wardlaw goal kept the Blue Brazil hot on the heels of leaders Alloa Athletic as the other two promotion hopefuls went down to home defeats.

It was another tight game between these sides but Cowden edged possession and found a deserved winning goal with 19 minutes remaining. Jon Robertson picked out Wardlaw in the box and the big striker headed home from 6 yards.

A good day at Central Park got even better when youngster Danny Mackay made his top team return in the closing stages after being out since last May with a serious cruciate injury.

Danny Lennon's side now face a tough double header on the road with trips to Peterhead and Arbroath coming up.
