Cowden recorded their first win of the pre season build up against Fife amateur side Cupar Hearts in a game played at the Stratheden Hospital playing fields on Saturday afternoon.
We were quick off the mark and it took new signing Gareth Wardlaw only six minutes to score his first goal for the club with a long range shot.
McQuade almost doubled the advantage after 28 minutes when he saw a shot come off the crossbar but he had to wait only two minutes before he fired home an angled shot from 18 yards.
Nine minutes from the interval Cowden went further ahead when a cross from the left by Linton was met by Brian Fairbairn who slotted the ball home from eight yards.
The home side reduced the deficit on 50 minutes but sixty seconds later John Ferguson (pictured) was set up by Tomana and after rounding the keeper stroked the ball into the empty net.
The home side never gave up the fight and scored two quick goals to reduce the deficit to just a goal on the hour mark.
With seven minutes left on the clock Ferguson got his second goal of the afternoon from the penalty spot after Wardlaw had been brought down in the box. Wardlaw himself then completed the scoring with a minute to go with a powerful shot from 35 yards.
