Making his debut for Cowdenbeath FC yesterday at Ainslie Park as Cowden fought back to earn a very well deserved 1-1 draw v Edinburgh City was centre back Kane O’Connor.
Kane (20) is an Edinburgh lad and first joined Hibs at the age of 10 back in 2011. He came up through the youth academy ranks at Easter Road and was capped at youth level by Scotland. In 2019, a number of English clubs were interested in Kane and it was Brentford who secured his signature on a 2 year deal. Brentford of course are now making people sit up and take notice following their promotion to the EPL and Kane was a regular in the highly regarded Brentford B line up albeit he was out for a spell due to injury last season. Kane left Brentford recently and manager Gary Bollan lately had Kane in to train with us.
Yesterday, there was a flurry of activity as a deal was agreed, the paperwork was signed and processed, and international clearance was obtained. With the assistance of Brentford FC, the English FA and the SFA we got this deal over the line at 6.14pm just in time for Kane to be included in our team for last night’s match (team line submission deadline is 6.30pm).
Kane showed up very well on his first appearance for the Blue Brazil and we offer him a very warm welcome to Central Park.
