Just before Christmas the first initiative under Cowdenbeath Football Club’s ‘One for the Road’ scheme was completed due to your help and generosity. Big-hearted Cowdenbeath fans clubbed together and collected food which we were then able to donate to the Foodbank in Cowdenbeath in December. Our donation to the Foodbank amounted to some 187 kilos of food together with a £190 cash donation.
We are now able to announce the second initiative under the CFC ‘One for the Road’ scheme and once again we seek your assistance in making this appeal a success. This time we are working with ‘The Clearing’ based in Cowdenbeath High Street. The Clearing is a Community Space created by a group which includes local Christians, the Street Pastor Base/Safe Space, Knitting and Friendship groups, etc. They aim to assist members of our community who need some help especially in these current difficult days.
There are two key areas where we have become involved. Firstly, using some of the funds provided to CFC via the SPFL Trust/James Anderson, we have now donated £300 to provide for the purchase of kids’ activities/craft packs, costing around £10.00 each. These will primarily be for the use of the older primary children who will not yet be going back to school.
The second part of our programme is where you can come in. The Clearing helps out local families in a number of ways and we have been asked if we can help via an appeal for toiletries and household goods to be donated. The following products are those most required and donations would be particularly appreciated:
Toiletries: - Soap, Shower Gel, After shave, Toothpaste, Nappies, Baby Shampoo, Baby Lotions.
Household Supplies: - Toilet rolls, Washing Powder, Washing up Liquid, Bleach, Disinfectants.
Donations (in bags or boxes) can be dropped off/handed in at The Clearing in Cowdenbeath High Street on Thursday 4th, 11th or 18th March between 10am and 3pm.
Thus whilst we may be suspended from playing football we can still actively play a part in helping our community with your assistance – please help and make a donation if you can.
