Clyde 1 Cowdenbeath 2

PostedMarch 13, 2010

Cowden made it three wins from three with a deserved but narrow away win against bottom dogs Clyde.

The first half was fairly even but Gareth Wardlaw (44) gave the Blue Brazil the half-time advantage with a cool finish from 18 yards on the turn.

The Blue Brazil dominated the second period and a goal from John Dempster (68) sealed the points. The sub got in behind the Clyde defence and scored at the second attempt after the keeper saved his initial effort only for the ball to rebound off the striker and end up in the net.

Clyde finished the game strongly and Latvian sub Borisovs (83) scored a late consolation when his sclaff wrong footed David Hay and trundled into the net. A tiring Cowden side - all three subs had utilised within the hour due to knocks to Joe Mbu, Paul McQuade and Dene Droudge - comfortably held on to claim the win and now face league leaders Alloa Athletic at Central Park on Tuesday evening.
