Match Preview: Cowdenbeath v Arbroath

Posted March 8, 2010

The Blue Brazil are home again on Tuesday night and will be looking to build on the level of performance at the weekend that saw the team run out 6-2 victors in the Fife derby.

Arbroath are the visitors this time in a re-arranged fixture and the game is expected to go ahead at the fourth time of asking. Saturday's game was the first at Central Park for a month thanks to the massive effort from the staff, youth players and volunteers to clear the snow. The pitch held up well during the game considering the recent weather and is likely to host its second game in four days.

The derby victory elevated Cowden back up to second place and was a welcome tonic after a difficult start to 2010 - both in terms of results and weather.

"It was great to get the three points after a frustrating spell in relation to results and the stop-start nature of the second half of the season", said Danny Lennon.

"The performance was also very pleasing and we need to take that standard of display into the match on Tuesday night. Arbroath are a very decent side and their results have really picked up under the guidance of Jim Weir.

"It's an important game for both clubs and is going to be a difficult game but the aim once again is three points."

Honours have been even between the two sides this season with Cowden securing a narrow 1-0 win at Gayfield in October while the Smokies won the opening game of the season at Central Par 2-1 against a nine man home side.

Lennon is hopeful that his squad will report to Central Park on Tuesday night injury free while Kenny Adamson is back in contention after serving his one match ban on Saturday. Darren McGregor (pictured) got another 90 minutes under his belt and capped an impressive performance with a goal while John Dempster made his first appearance since August.
