Match Preview: Cowdenbeath v East Fife

Posted March 4, 2010

The Blue Brazil hope to return to action after a three week weather enforced break by hosting East Fife in the final derby of the season this weekend.

Football action has been in short supply recently so if this match gets the go ahead the opportunity of attending  a Fife derby should be a mouth watering prospect for all Blue Brasilians.

Danny Lennon and his squad of volunteers only just failed to clear the snow in time to get the go ahead for Tuesday night's game against Arbroath and with the milder weather this week the prospects of a game this weekend look brighter.

"We are all desperate for a game of football and they don't come much bigger for us than a derby game", said Lennon.

"It has been another frustrating spell due to the weather so it would be a great boost to come back with a game against East Fife and three points.

"We worked hard to get the game on last Tuesday and only narrowly failed. I would like to thanks all the supporters who helped us clear the snow and hopefully they will be rewarded with a victory on Saturday.

"We now have a busy month ahead and the full squad will be needed but the players are well prepared for the challenge and are more than up for it."

Cowden dropped a couple of league places to third in recent weeks but picked up a good away point against Stenhousemuir in our last outing and will be looking to put pressure on the top two this weekend.

The break has given the squad the chance to recover from niggling injuries with only Kenny Adamson unavailable due to suspension after his red card against Stenhousemuir. Danny Mackay has made a very welcome return to full fitness but will need more match practice before competing for a first team place.
