Reserve League Cup

Posted February 15, 2010

The reserves recorded a third successive draw in their penultimate game of the season on Monday night as they drew 1-1 with Arbroath at Central Park.

We opened the scoring after 28 minutes when Ferguson fired in a low angled shot from seven yards which keeper Morrison failed to hold and John Dempster was quick to react and knock home the rebound from close range.

The Red Lichties had a few good chances to equalise in the second half but Bower pulled off good saves from McIlravey, Redman and Urquart to maintain our lead.

Linton almost made it 2-0 with 13 minutes to go but his 20 yard free kick crashed off the visitors post.

Arbroath’s equaliser came with five minutes to go when sub Robert Urquartsent a powerful 16 yard shot through a crowded goal mouth and into the far corner of the Cowden net.
