We kick off the second quarter of the Ladbrokes League Two campaign on Saturday afternoon when we head over the border to face Berwick Rangers at Shielfield Park with a 3pm kick off.
The close of the first quarter a fortnight ago saw us sit in seventh place in the table with eight points from the nine games, two points and two places above Saturday's visitors.
Three of those points of course came from Berwick's visit to Central Park in August when we ran out 4-0 winners over the Borderers. Since that sunny afternoon there has been a change of management at Shielfield with Robbie Horn resigning to be replaced with another former Berwick player Johnny Harvey who was most recently manager at East of Scotland League side Penicuik Athletic after previous spells in charge of Edinburgh United and Haddington Athletic.
Former Cowden youth player Myles Allan left his position as first team coach in a backroom shake up with former Cowden assistant manager Neil Hastings joining the club along with our former keeper Andy Carlin who is new goalkeeping coach.
Last Saturday saw good Scottish Cup wins for both sides with Cowden running out 2-1 winners over Clyde while Berwick overcome a Gretna 2008 side, featuring former Central Parker Bryan Gilfillan, 3-1.
Keeper David McGurn is suspended for the game after being red carded in the last game up at Elgin a fortnight ago, while for Berwick the long serving Darren Laverty ended his seven year spell with the club on Friday after playing in 243 games and scoring 64 goals, making him their third all time top scorer behind Eric Tait and Ken Bowron.
