Match Preview: Cowdenbeath v Stirling Albion

Posted January 28, 2010

The top two come head-to-head on Saturday as Central Park hosts the SFL game of the day - Cowden's first home game since mid December.

The Blue Brazil lost their first league game since September after Dumbarton's late winner last Saturday and will be out to get back to winning ways against our nearest challengers.

"It's a big game this weekend with the top two facing each other", commented Danny Lennon.

"Stirling Albion have consistently been up at the business end of the league and have shown their character with some vital late goals to win games. We know what to expect and will have to play for the full 90 minutes.

"We were excellent in the first half last week but completely lost our way after the break. Maybe some of the players thought the game was already won and we stopped doing the things that have served us well this season. We did not press them, gave them too much space and paid the penalty.

"The boys have been excellent this season but let their standards slip. I'm not interested in looking back on unbeaten runs or dwelling on the last game. We will learn the lessons and our focus ins now firmly on Stirling Albion.

"It's a fantastic game for the fans and hopefully the local community will come out in numbers to support their team."

Joe Mbu is making good progress after treatment on his groin injury but will  not return to training until next week and will be unavailable at the weekend. Kenny Adamson returns from suspension while a number of the first team squad got 90 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday night including Darren McGregor, Mark Baxter and John Dempster. Mark Ramsay will be pushing to hold his place after an impressive showing against Dumbarton.
