MATCH PREVIEW - ELGIN CITY (A)

Posted January 13, 2018

We kick off a run of two successive away games on Saturday when we head north to Borough Briggs to face Elgin City with a 3pm kick off.

Our last game at Elgin was on the opening day of the season when David Syme opened the scoring for us before Matthew Cooper equalised for City.

The return game at Central Park in November saw Elgin run out 3-1 winners with goals from Brian Cameron bagging a brace along with Thomas Reilly before Cameron Murhead got a late consolation after both Fraser Mullen and David Syme had been sent off.

Last Saturday saw Elgin get their first win since that November afternoon when they had a 2-1 home win over Clyde with Cameron and Chris Dodd scoring either side of David Goodwillie's equaliser for the Bully Wee.

Despite they recent stuttering run Elgin still remain on the fringes of the promotion play offs and sit in sixth place on 27 points just three behind fourth place Stirling.

New arrivals at Borough Briggs during the transfer window are Zac Elbouzedi on an emergency loan from Inverness CT, keeper Ian Ross from Broughty Athletic, Andrew McDonald who arrived from St Mirren on a development loan and Aaron Whitehead from Lochee United although it was announced on Friday that Whitehead has returned to the junior side on a 28 day emergency loan.

Robbie Buchanan once again misses out as he serves the second game of his three game ban although new signings Aiden Malone, Ben Reilly and Jordan Hornby are added to the squad.

COWDEN FIVE GAME FORM

Our last five games have seen three draws and two defeats the latest being last Saturday's 2-0 home reverse against Edinburgh City at Central Park.

ELGIN FIVE GAME FORM

Elgin have one win, one draw and three defeats in their last five games. The win came against Clyde last Saturday while they also drew with Edinburgh City at Borough Briggs. The defeats came against Montrose (0-3), Stenhousemuir (1-4) and Peterhead (0-7).
