MATCH PREVIEW - MONTROSE (A)

Posted January 1, 2018

It's top against bottom as we open our 2018 fixtures at Links Park against Montrose on Tuesday with a 3pm kick off.

Links Park was the only League Two ground to beat the weather on Saturday as the Gable Endies faced second top Peterhead and went down 6-2 to Jim McInally's side who are now just three points behind them having played two games less and bringing the home sides ten game unbeaten league run to a crashing end.

The Gable Endies have won the two previous meetings of the sides with a 1-0 win at Links Park back in August courtesy of a Sean Dillon goal while the return game at Central Park in November saw a 3-1 win for the visitors with goals from Terry Masson (2) and Craig Johnston with Robbie Buchanan getting our goal.

Despite being sent off at Peterhead Robbie Buchanan is eligible for selection as his red card has gone to an SFA appeal which will be heard on Thursday while new loan signing from Livingston Craig Henderson joins the squad.

LAST FIVE GAMES

Our last five games have seen three draws and two defeats. The defeats came from a 3-1 reverse at home to Elgin and away at Peterhead in out last game when we went down 3-2 with the Blue Toon scoring with the last kick of the ball.

In between we drew at home to Annan and Stenhousemuir 1-1 at Central Park while we fought out a goal less draw with Edinburgh City at Ainslie Park.

GABLE ENDIES LAST FIVE GAMES

Prior to their heavy weekend defeat Montrose had won three out of four of their games in December with the other ending in a draw. After a goal less home draw with Clyde they had beaten Berwick and Elgin both 3-0 at Links Park along with a 1-0 win at Stirling Albion.
