After our Irn Bru Cup exit at Tannadice on Tuesday night, we make a quick return to Tayside on Saturday when we face Montrose at Links Park with a 3pm kick off.
After two games played the Gable Endies sit just above us in third place on goal difference after a 3-1 win at Edinburgh City and a home 1-1 draw with Stenhousemuir.
In the Betfred Cup Montrose finished 4th in Group C with their only win being against Alloa at Links Park with Kerr Hay and Paul Watson scoring in the 2-1 victory over the League Two side.
The other games saw heavy defeats from Hibernian (0-4), Ross County (0-6) and Arbroath (0-4).
A fortnight ago however in the first League Two match to be staged at Ainslie Park goals from Chris Templeman, Connor McLaren and Iain Campbell saw a 3-1 win over Edinburgh City.
Last Saturday Mark McGuigan opened the scoring for Stenhousemuir at Links Park but Graham Webster grabbed an equaliser eight minutes later.
On Tuesday night Montrose progressed to the second round of the Irn Bru Cup with a 3-1 win over Stirling Albion at Forthbank with goals from Andrew Steeves and Cammy Ballantyne brace.
They will now play Ayr United in the second round in a fortnights time.
There is a strong Cowden connection in the Montrose line up with Allan Fleming, Martyn Fotheringham, Liam Callaghan and Craig Johnston all in manager Stewart Petrie's squad.
David Syme and Ben Stirling will return to the squad after missing the midweek Irn Bru Cup tie.
