MATCH PREVIEW - EAST KILBRIDE (H)

This coming August marks the centenary of Central Park and over that 100 years the famous old ground has witnessed many highs and lows in our history but on Saturday it will host the most important game in the club's history when we meet East Kilbride in the second leg of the Ladbrokes League Two play off final.

Back in 1880 when Mrs Pollock first brought a football to the town little did she know what she was about to start with the eventual formation of Cowdenbeath F.C. Elected into the SFL in 1905 and but for the two World Wars and a few seasons after the First World War when there was only one division we have been continuous members of the league and its successor the SPFL.
Now our membership rests on 90 minutes with the possibility of extra time and penalties as we face the Lowland League Champions with the tie evenly poised after last weeks stalemate at the K-Park.

We of course had the opportunity to grab a late winner with three minutes to go but home keeper Matt McGinley pulled a fine save to deny Kyle Miller for what was our fifth successive miss from the spot (not six as most media outlets said).

Saturday will of course be Kilby's second visit of the season to Central Park following their 1-0 win in the Scottish Cup courtesy of an early goal from top scorer Joao Vitoria.
