MATCH PREVIEW - ARBROATH (H)

Posted April 21, 2017

After two successive away games we now start a run of two home games at Central Park against the two title chasers starting with Arbroath on Saturday afternoon with a 3 p.m. kick off.

Dick Campbell's side have slowly reduced Forfar's lead at the top of the table and were heading for the summit last Saturday before Edinburgh City's Ryan Porteous bagged a stoppage time winner at Gayfield Park last Saturday.

After beating the Red Lichties 2-0 in a Betfred Cup game back in July at Gayfield the league results this season have swung in favour of the Angus side who have won two of the three previous encounters with the other ending in a rare goal less draw.

Our second visit to the Angus seaside back in October saw the draw but on Christmas Eve we went down 2-0 to goals from Josh Skelly and Steven Dorris, while our return to Arbroath in February saw a 4-1 defeat with Dorris once again on the score sheet with Martin Scott, an own goal from Liam Henderson and Gavin Mallin before Scott Rumsby got a late consolation.

Despite taking seven points from our last three games we still remain at the foot of the table three points behind Berwick and Clyde and four behind Edinburgh City. Like ourselves our rivals face teams from the top five on Saturday with Berwick at home to Montrose as are Edinburgh City against Annan while Clyde travel to leaders Forfar.

Top scorer Kris Renton, who bagged his 10th goal of the campaign last week at Forthbank, will miss the game due to suspension while Brian Ross who has been confined to the bench recently has now left Central Park.
