MATCH REVIEW - CLYDE (A)

Posted March 24, 2017

CLYDE 0 COWDENBEATH 2
Tuesday 21st March, Ladbrokes League Two Match No 29, Att 385.

After Jamie Sneddon had saved a Peter MacDonald penalty goals either side of half time from Kyle Miller and David Syme gave us our second successive away game.

Miller was our only change to the starting XI from the Saturday defeat against Montrose, replacing Robbie Buchanan who dropped to the bench.

It was however the Bully Wee who dominated early possession and when Rumsby made a rash challenge on Ferguson with 11 minutes gone were given the opportunity to open the scoring from the spot but MacDonald’s effort brought out a fine diving save from Sneddon.

MacDonald and Higgins then sent efforts over the bar but it was Cowden who opened the scoring just short of the break when Rutherford fired in a long range shot which was parried by keeper McMillan into the path of Dale CARRICK who slotted the ball home from close range.

The second half opened with MacDonald sending a snap shot off target but we went further ahead when a Mullen corner fell to David SYME at the back post and he rose to head home only his second senior goal.

Rumsby and Carrick both went close to adding to the score while MacDonald once again proved to be a threat sending a shot from a difficult angle off target.

At the other end a Mullen effort was saved by McMillan while MacDonald’s luck in front of goal continued to elude him when a shot came back off the post.
