MATCH PREVIEW - MONTROSE (H)

Posted March 17, 2017

A busy week of fixtures continue on Saturday when we host Montrose at Central Park with a 3 p.m. Kick off.

A win at Berwick and a draw with Elgin has given new manager a good start to his career at Central Park and with the two teams above us in the table Clyde and Edinburgh City meeting at Broadwood he will be looking to close the gap.

Montrose themselves have had a revival in fortunes since the appointment of Stewart Petrie as manager and currently sit in sixth place twelve points above us in the table.

The previous meetings this season have gone in our favour with us winning two of the three games. Back in September goals from Gary Glen and Kris Renton gave us a 2-1 win at Links Park after Gary Fraser had opened the scoring for the Gable Endies from the penalty spot.

The return at Central Park in November saw a 2-0 win with goals from Nckolay Todorov from the penalty spot and Renton while the visitors played most of the game with ten men after Cammy Ballantyne was sent off just before the half hour.

This proved to be Paul Heggarty's last game in charge and he left Links Park the following midweek.

Our game at Links Park in January saw us lose 2-1 despite the home side having Matty Smith and Gary Fraser sent off in the last ten minutes, An own goal from Gerry McLauchlan had given the home side the lead with Dean Brett leveling with five minutes to go with what proved to be his last goal for us, but Fraser got the winner from the penalty spot with a few minutes to go before picking up a second yellow card after celebrating with supporters.

The last two games have seen Montose go successive defeats against Stirling and Annan both at Links Park with their only win in the last six games coming at Clyde on the last day of February.
