It's the start of a busy week on Saturday when we make our third trip of the season to Gayfield Park to face an Arbroath side who currently sit in second place in Ladbrokes League Two.
Back in July goals from Craig Johnston and Nickolay Todorov gave us a 2-0 League Cup group win at the Angus ground. We then returned to the same venue for a goal less league game in late September. However goals from Josh Skelly and Steven Dorris saw Dick Campbell's side run out 2-0 winners at Central Park on Christmas Eve.
Since that meeting Arbroath have lost just two league games against Forfar and Annan with four wins and two draws in their other six games since. Last Saturday while Forfar went down to Berwick the failed to fully take advantage after being held at home 1-1 to Stirling Albion.
For our part we have only picked up one win, at Stirling since the last encounter and have lost our last four games which leaves us four points adrift at the foot of the table although we have played two games less than both Stirling and Edinburgh City who sit just above us. Following Saturday's trip to Angus we then face both Edinburgh and Stirling in the coming week with both games at Central Park.
With the departures of Liam Callaghan to Montrose and Josh Thomson moving to Dundonald Bluebell on loan one time loanee David Gold is the only former Cowden player in the Arbroath player pool.
