MATCH PREVIEW - MONTROSE (A)

Posted January 20, 2017

After an enforced break last weekend after our home game with Edinburgh City was postponed on Saturday morning we get back into action this coming Saturday when we face Montrose at Links Park with a 3 p.m. kick off.

Our two previous meetings this season have gone in our favour with two wins out of two. At Links Park back in September Gary Fraser gave the host the lead from the penalty spot just before the break with Gary Glen leveling on the stroke of half time and Kris Renton scoring just after the break.

The return game at Central Park in November saw a 2-0 win Nickolay Todorov opened the scoring from the penalty spot with the visitors Cameron Ballantyne getting sent off soon after while Renton completed the scoring in the second half.

This proved to be Paul Heggarty's last game in charge and he left Links Park the following midweek after two and a half years in charge of the club. His assistant John Holt took charge for a few games but in early December Stewart Petrie was appointed as new manager.

Fortunes have improved for the Gable Endies under Petrie's charge and he opened with wins over Clyde and Berwick along with draws against Stirling and Arbroath before losing his first game a fortnight ago going down 3-0 to Elgin. Like us last Saturday saw them without a match after their scheduled game at Broadwood against Clyde fell victim to the weather.

Their improved form has seen them go two places and two points ahead of us in the table as we go into the game.

Fraser Mullen is once again free for selection after serving a one game ban against Berwick in our last game while new signings Liam Henderson and Scott Rumsby will be added to Liam Fox's squad.
