MATCH PREVIEW - STIRLING ALBION (A)

Posted December 30, 2016

It's the final game of 2016 on Saturday when we face Stirling Albion at Forthbank Stadium with the earlier than normal kick off time of 2 p.m.

This will be our first trip to Forthbank since 14th April 2012 when goals from Lewis Coult and Marc McKenzie gave us a 2-0 win on the way to the Second Division title which was clinched the following Saturday against Forfar.

Both scorers were to later join Stirling with McKenzie of course featuring when the sides met in October at Central Park with the Binos winning 2-0 thanks to goals from the on loan Issac Layne and Darren Smith.

That was Martyn Corrigan's fist game in temporary charge of the side after Stuart McLaren's resignation but the managers job eventually went to Dave Mackay in November.

The former St Johnstone skipper got his managerial career off to a good start with his first three games seeing an unbeaten run with wins at Elgin and at home to Wick in the Scottish Cup as well as a home draw with Arbroath.

However since then defeats at Berwick and Edinburgh City have followed, although they have been unbeaten in their last two matches with a home win over Annan and a draw at Montrose last Saturday which leaves them in eighth place, two places and two points above us as we reach the halfway stage of the league campaign.

For us we have now been on a run of three successive defeats against Annan, Forfar and Arbroath which leaves us at the foot of the table, however only four points separate the bottom five sides and with both Berwick and Edinburgh City facing each other this weekend both ourselves and Stirling will be looking for a win to take full advantage.
