MATCH PREVIEW - BERWICK RANGERS (A)
Posted November 4, 2016
A second successive away day see's us head south to face Berwick Rangers in a Ladbrokes League Two clash at Shielfield Park on Saturday afternoon with a 3 p.m. kick off.
It will be our first trip to the English town since August 2013 when we ran out 5-0 winners in a League Cup tie with Kane Hemmings, now with Oxford United, bagging a hat trick in his first game for us as a full time player after being on loan from Rangers the previous season.
Kyle Miller who will be the only Cowden player from that day who will be in Saturday's squad was also on target, while Greg Stewart, now in the English Championship with Birmingham City, came off the bench to score.
The last meeting of the sides at Central Park however was a different story as we went down 2-0 back in September with Steven Thomson bagging a brace for the Borderers in a 2-0 win, their first at Central Park since March 2008.
John Coughlin's side go into the game on the fringes of the play-offs sitting in fifth place with 14 points, just a point behind fourth place Arbroath who they drew with last Saturday while we remained in ninth spot following our 3-1 defeat at Elgin.
This was Berwick's fourth successive league draw since they beat us in mid September and will no doubt have got the shock Scottish Cup defeat the previous week against Hawick out of their system.
COWDEN AWAY LEAGUE FORM
Our only away win came at Montrose back in September and since then we have drawn at Arbroath and lost to Elgin last week.
