Paul McQuade came off the bench to make it a perfect ten for Cowden as the home side came from behind to defeat Stenhousemuir 2-1 and move two points clear of second placed Stirling Albion.
The Blue Brazil had to do without key men John Armstrong, Craig Winter and Gareth Wardlaw due to injury and were further hampered after Kenny Adamson's second half red card but Danny Lennon's side had enough in the tank, without ever getting out of second gear, to take care of Stenhousemuir and extend the unbeaten league run to ten games.
Stenhousemuir looked more lively in the opening stages and it was no surprise when former Central Parker Scott Dalziel (21) opened the scoring but Cowden equalised two minutes later with a close range effort from Brian Fairbairn.
Adamson's needles red card looked to have swung the game in favour of Stenny but it had the opposite effect as McQuade rounded the keeper and slotted home the winner with 14 minutes remaining.
It was far from a vintage Cowden performance but the boys rolled up their sleeves and showed once again the winning mentality that has been installed at Central Park.
Prior to the match, Craig Winter received an award from the Cowdenbeath Community Trust to mark his 300th league appearance for the Club last weekend. The award was, fittingly, presented, on behalf of the Trust, by former Cowden goalkeeper Raymond Allan - the only player to have made more appearances for the Blue Brazil.
