MATCH PREVIEW - EAST FIFE (A)
MATCH PREVIEW - EAST FIFE (A)
Posted July 29, 2016
After finishing our Betfred Cup games with our 2-0 win over Arbroath at Gayfield Park on Wednesday night we have our final friendly game before getting into our League 1 schedule when we visit Bayview Stadium on Saturday with a 2 p.m. kick off.
Unlike us the Methil side, who have also completed their Betfred Cup games, still have a chance of qualifying for the 2nd round but after Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat at Forfar must now hope that Peterhead and the Loons drop points in their final games to qualify.
The Fifers opened their games with a 1-1 home draw with Dundee who took the lead through former Central Parker Kane Hemmings, who this week moved to Oxford United, but Kevin Smith equalised with 12 minutes to go and the Methil side went onto the beat the Premiership side 4-2 on penalties to earn a bonus point.
A midweek trip to Dumbarton followed and Smith was once again on target in a 2-0 win along with Paul McManus. Last Saturday they had to come from behind to beat Peterhead at Bayview after Jordon Brown gave the Blue Toon the lead with Jonathan Page leveling the score before McManus got the winner from the penalty spot.
After doing well in their opening 3 games it was probably a surprise that they went down to Forfar at Station Park with Jim Lister and Andy Munro getting the Loons goals.
