MATCH PREVIEW - DUNDEE UNITED (A)

Posted July 19, 2016

After a rare home meeting with Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday past we make an even rarer visit to Tanadice Park on Tuesday night with a 7.45 p.m. kick off.

You have to go back to 27th August 1980 for our last away game with Arabs when they ran out 4-0 winners in the first leg of a League Cup tie and followed that up with a 4-0 win at Central Park the following Saturday.

The sides have met 14 times in the League Cup with each side winning 6 games with the other 2 ending in draws. However to show how the Dundee side transformed in the early 1960s our last win was in 1958!

For the third successive season we go up against a side managed by Ray McKinnon, firstly Brechin then Raith Rovers last season and now United after he took over from former Cowden boss Mixu Paatelainen following their relegation from the Premiership.

The new man's first game in charge on Friday night saw a 1-1 draw at Arbroath in their opening Betfred Cup tie at Gayfield them earning a bonus point after a 5-3 penalty shoot out win which leaves them second in the group table.

For us after our narrow home defeat against Inverness it's another tough encounter against a full time side. The head coach has a full squad to call on with the exception of the injured Kenny Adamson.
