Creaney for Cowden

Posted July 15, 2016

On the eve of the big kick off for season 2016/17, manager Liam Fox has further augmented his squad by signing left back James Creaney. The son of Jimmy Creaney who scored the winner for Linlithgow Rose in the 2002 Scottish Junior Cup final, James began his career in Kilmarnock's Academy, before joining Ayr United in 2005. He was then on loan in the juniors with Troon for a time and subsequently moved to Stranraer.

In 2009, James crossed over to Ireland to join Dundalk. Then he was with Galway United prior to reverting to Scotland when he joined Dumbarton. He helped the Sons to promotion in his first season with the club. After 3 years at Dumbarton, he moved Alloa to play in the Championship in 2013. During his spell at Recreation Park, it was discovered that James had a hole in the heart and thus an operation was required. Since his recovery, James has featured for Stirling Albion and at Hurlford United where he played in last season’s Scottish Junior Cup semi-final. Now James looks forward to a new challenge in League 2 with the Blue Brazil.
