COWDENBEATH 1 ALLOA ATHLETIC 2
Posted July 12, 2016
We concluded our home pre season games with a narrow defeat from Alloa with former Central Parker Greig Spence getting what seems to be a customary goal while playing against us.
It was however us who opened the scoring with just nine minutes gone when Swann sent over a good cross from the left wing for Gary Glen to slot the ball past Parry.
Soon after Parry did well to tip a long range free kick from Mullen onto the post as we looked to add a second goal.
Then the keeper was called into action once more to deny Swann who fired in a shot after a good run.
At the other end Spence had the ball in the Cowden net but the assistant referee’s flag was raised.
In 57 minutes Alloa drew level when a Waters corner was headed towards goal by Marr with McGurn parrying his effort however Kevin Cawley was alert to nod home the rebound.
Then with 72 minutes gone Spence got the winner when a slip by McLaughlan allowed him to breakthrough and dink the ball over McGurn.
