Match Preview: Peterhead v Cowdenbeath

Posted December 11, 2009

The Blue Brazil make the long trip north on Saturday afternoon to face Neale Cooper's Peterhead side at Balmoor in a Irn-Bru Second Division encounter. A late Alloa goal in midweek ended Cowden's Scottish Cup campaign but Danny Lennon's team have it all to play for with top spot and an impressive eight match unbeaten run to protect.

The two sides have already come head-to-head twice this season with bragging rights going to the Blue Brazil so far thanks to a 2-1 win away to Peterhead in the ALBA Challenge Cup back in August and the more recent comprehensive 5-0 home league win.

"The result in midweek was disappointing for us but the focus is now firmly on Peterhead and the quest for league points", said Lennon.

"We have done well against Peterhead this season but their results have picked up recently and we know that they are a very good, established, 2nd division side so we will have to be at our best.

"I thought it was a decent performance against Alloa - we more than held our own but just lacked a cutting edge on the night. I will be looking for the same work rate and application on Saturday but better decision making in the final third."

Gareth Wardlaw picked up a hip injury in midweek but could join fellow striker Paul McQuade in the squad if the duo pass late fitness tests.
