MATCH PREVIEW – ALBION ROVERS (A)

Posted April 15, 2016

It’s another vital Ladbrokes League 1 game for us on Saturday afternoon when we face fifth place Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill Stadium with a 3 p.m. kick off.
Three successive wins have hoisted us up the table to seventh place and with just three games remaining we are five points clear of bottom side Brechin and four ahead of second bottom Forfar.

Our hosts, who have had an excellent return to the third flight following their League 2 championship success last season, still have an eye on grabbing the last promotion play-off spot and currently sit just three points behind Stranraer so it’s all to play for.

The three previous meetings this season have seen two wins for the Rovers after we won the opening game at Central Park back in August courtesy of an early goal from Greig Spence.

The return game at Cliftonhill was played in late November after twice falling to a waterlogged pitch and once again Spence gave us the lead just after half time.

However goals from former Cowden man Scott McBride and Josh Mullin, who has since joined Livingston, gave Darren Young’s side the three points.

Our Boxing Day visit from the Rovers also fell victim to the weather and when it was eventually played in February a brace from McBride saw a 2-1 win for the Coatbridge side with Spence once again on target for us.

Kieran Gibbons will miss the match due to a one game suspension as does Rovers top scorer Ally Love.
