MATCH PREVIEW – BRECHIN CITY (H)

Posted April 9, 2016

It’s another big match on Saturday when we face Brechin City at Central Park with a 3 p.m. in a game which will go a long way in deciding our Ladbrokes League 1 survival.
With only four games left we go into the game two points ahead of City and their Angus neighbours Forfar who will be playing just along the road at champions Dunfermline.

Stenhousemuir who are just a point above us meanwhile make the journey to Airdrie.
The last two Saturday’s have seen us win successive games against Peterhead and Ayr 1-0 and manager Colin Nish will be looking to continue that form going into Saturday’s game.

Brechin themselves have been in a good run for form winning five of their last six games with their only defeat coming at Dunfermline a fortnight ago the afternoon the Pars confirmed the title.
The previous three meetings this season has seen each side win at home while our second visit to Glebe Park saw a 2-2 draw.

Back in late September we went down 2-0 at the Glebe after City had got their first points of the season at Peterhead the previous week after a run of eight league and cup defeats.

Second half goals from David Bates, who returned to Raith Rovers, and Jonathan Tiffoney ensued back to back wins for Dods’ side while we had a late Robbie Buchanan penalty saved while Dean Brett was sent off in the closing stages.

The return game at Central Park in November saw a 3-0 win with Brett opening the scoring from the penalty spot with an own goal from Aldin El Zubaidi and Greig Spence completing the scoring.
Our return to the Glebe in February saw Chris Kane open the scoring with Tiffoney equalising before the break.

Brett put us back in front six minutes from time but Scott Shepherd got an equaliser with the last kick off the ball four minutes into stoppage time.

Jonathan Tifoney will be missing from the City side after his injury time sending off against Stenhousemuir last Saturday.
