MATCH PREVIEW – AYR UNITED (H)

Posted April 2, 2016

Saturday see’s the first of two home Ladbrokes League 1 games as we move into the closing stages of the season.
Ian McCall’s Ayr United are our visitors with a 3 p.m. kick off at Central Park as we look to keep up the momentum gained from last Saturday’s win over Peterhead at Balmoor Staium.

Like the Blue Toon Ayr have qualified for the Championship play-off although there will be an air of disappointment in not running Dunfermline closer to the title after matching the Pars in the first half of the campaign.
The three previous meetings this season have seen the sides win their home games.

Back in early October we fell to a heavy 5-0 defeat on our visit to Somerset Park with Jordan Preston, Alan Forrest, Gerry McLaughlan, Brian Gilmour and Craig Moore getting the goals.
The return game at Central Park in late December saw another high scoring encounter with us running out 4-2 winners.

After Ross Caldwell had given Ayr an early lead; goals from Dean Brett, Greig Spence and Gordon Smith put us 3-1 up before Preston pulled a goal back. However Spence soon restored our two goal advantage.
Our return game at Somerset Park a month ago saw us go down to a midweek 4-1 defeat with Ross McCorrie, Ryan Stevenson (2) and Moore getting the Ayr goals with Declan Hughes replying for us.
