MATCH PREVIEW - BRECHIN CITY (A)

Posted February 13, 2016

We make our second and final visit of the season to Glebe Park on Saturday, kick off 3 p.m., looking to kick start our season after five successive league and cup defeats in 2016.

The past week has seen successive defeats at Airdrie and at home to Albion Rovers which leaves us in eighth place, seven points ahead of our bottom of the table hosts.

Whilst we were in action last Saturday afternoon at the Excelsior Stadium City had an enforced free afternoon after their scheduled visit to Albion Rovers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Due to the weather they have managed to play only three league games this year the last of which was a week past Tuesday when they drew 0-0 at Stenhousemuir.

The two previous meetings this season has seen a win each for both sides. Our visit to Glebe Park back in September saw a 2-0 win for the hosts with goals from David Bates, now back at Raith Rovers after his loan spell, and Jonathan Tiffoney.

The return game at Central Park in November saw us win 3-0 thanks to goals from Dean Brett, Aldin El Zubaidi and Greig Spence.

COWDEN AWAY FORM

Last Saturday's defeat at Airdrie was our ninth league defeat on the road this season. An omen for this weekend's game could be that our last two visits to Angus saw a Scottish Cup win at Arbroath and a league win at Forfar.

Brechin's last home outing on 23rd January saw a fighting comeback earn a 3-3 draw with Airdrie after the Diamonds went in 3-1 up at the break.

Their last home win came on 19th December when they beat Stranraer 2-0, both of their scorers that afternoon have however now left Glebe Park. Dene Shields returned to live in Malta while Isaac Layne was recalled by Alloa.
